About Alana

Hello! My name is Alana and I am a recent grad of the University of Pennsylvania, and just relocated to LA! I have tutored in volunteer and paid capacities over the past 6 or so years, including with private families, in an inner-city high school, with a non-profit college access organization, and in a youth detention center. My strongest subject is English, but am happy to work with students in math up to Algebra II and elementary/middle school science. I also have experience in SAT/ACT coaching (34 ACT, perfect scores in English and science, PSAT National Merit Commendation) and can provide college application counseling on the whole for any students needing assistance with determining a list of schools, writing a personal statement, and crafting their individual narrative. Despite the serious nature of this description, I'm also very personable and hope that your student can benefit from a near-peer connection with a younger tutor!
