About Alyssa

I am a special education teacher who has had extensive experience working with a variety of children in different settings, including schools, mental health settings, and respite settings. My strengths include facilitating learning through meaningful play, planning and implementing interventions to address academic or behavior concerns, using children's strengths and interests to help them learn, and building trusting relationships with students. I am interested in using my skills to provide tutoring services in the summer. My preferred subject area for tutoring is definitely reading, and I am very passionate about improving reading outcomes for students by using evidence-based strategies and interventions to teach reading. I have worked with a variety of struggling readers and have experience applying many different strategies to target skill areas that students need support with. I am also equipped to teach writing, math, and social-emotional skills.
