In the early 2000s I took some vet tech coursework at St. Petersburg Community College in St. Petersburg, Florida. The coursework included internship work in a vet office in Tampa, Florida. Besides this I have many years of volunteer experience working with animals including dogs, cats, small pets, wildlife and horses. I work with several animal rescue groups, both dogs and cats, and have a total of over 10 years' experience as a wildlife rehab volunteer. Working with wildlife has given me a broad knowledge of the biology, needs, and care of small mammals, reptiles and many different types of birds. Over the years, I have fostered or taken in all sorts of pets from mice, rats, hamsters, etc. to turtles and lizards to canaries, parakeets and large parrots..
