About Ashley

I have always loved caring for children. I first started working with kids when I was in seventh grade in my church's nursery, where I watched over, fed, and played with babies while their parents attended mass. Most children were between 6 months and 2 years old, although I occasionally took care of children younger than 6 months. When I entered high school, I started working at various summer camps as a counselor. One of my favorite camps was the "Pet Lover" camp at my local animal shelter where, in alternating weeks, I lead groups of elementary and middle schoolers. During an average day, I prepared their snacks, helped them complete crafts, and brought animals out to help them learn about being responsible pet owners. On particularly fun days, I chaperoned groups of 5 or more kids at Seaworld in Orlando and an exotic animal farm in St Cloud. Now that I have graduated from UF and entered the workforce, I know I want to continue working with children because I found it so rewarding.
