We attempted to hire Charlotte as a longer term babysitter/nanny for our two young daughters (2yo and 4yo). Before hiring her, we did a phone interview and did a meet and greet in our home, so there was an opportunity for her to ask questions, interact with our daughters, and to see if she was a good fit for us. Our initial impressions were positive, so we decided to move forward with her. Unfortunately, at the end of the second day, she told our daughters she would see them tomorrow, and not even 10 minutes later sent a message that she was not returning. She left the two car seats and school pickup signs at the end of our driveway. We were very shocked and disappointed as there was no conversation, or any indication there was an underlying issue. She noted in the text feeling overly criticized, which we didn’t feel was justified. With any new relationship of course we want to have clear expectations on the care of our daughters. When things were discussed or noted, instead of having a discussion, she never responded. We admittedly did forget to disclose we had cameras in the common areas of our home for safety and security purposes, which seemed to be the largest sticking point in her text. However, Charlotte never clarified, or responded to any of our texts after leaving. This was very unprofessional and left us in a last minute childcare struggle.
