Though I only have 1+ years of professional in senior care, I do have 5+ years of taking care of my late grandfather who passed from Alzheimer's last summer at the age of 95. I am now 32, and the last 10 years have been a battle with the disease. It is a battle I do not wish on anyone. But the little rewards of a memory, or hearing my grandfather remember my name was all worth the fight against the disease. My grandfather had to be in a nursing home the last 4 years of his life, which I still visited Thursday - Sunday to make sure he was being properly cared for. From changing and bathing, to feeding, I will gladly do. Most importantly my grandfather loved interacting and going outside- something he didn't get much of in the home when I wasn't there visiting. I want nothing more than to make their quality of life a one they deserve. They built this world and it's up to us to pay it forward by taking care of them!
