About Dorothy

I have 13 years of taking care of my grandmother who was diagnosed with cancer. I also took care of my grandmother's daughter, my aunt who was diagnosed with lung disease. I provided their physical needs which included household chores, errands, bathing, meal preparation and appointments but I also took care of their emotional and social needs. For example, listening to their concerns and going at their pace to do a physical activity if recommended by theirs physicians and nurses. I remember my grandmother saying "It's no fun getting old" but I would always encourage her by saying something to make her laugh and get her mind focused off the pain. I've always been a tender and compassionate person which is at the heart of any loving caregiver.
