Dorrie was a god-send during the worst of my disability. I knew I needed help, but I was too tired/overwhelmed to be able to train someone or give specific instructions. Dorrie came in and quickly assessed what help I needed (laundry, meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking) and put systems in place to make it easy on me. For example, she asked me to give her recipes of things my family likes to eat and then she put together the grocery list, did the shopping, made the meals, and left them in the fridge with instructions for reheating. I also really appreciated that she asked me whether I wanted her to put my 7 year old's clothes away or leave them for him to put away. I wanted him to continue to put his clothes away, so she helped set up a system for him that dirty clothes go in this basket, clothes in this other basket are clean and should be put away sometime before the next laundry day. She didn't just "do the housework", she helped me be a better mom.
