I have spent the last 5 1/2 years caring for a Parkinson's patient from an ambulatory patient through end stage Parkinson's. While patient was ambulatory, I took him for daily walks, went to museums, visited friends and took him to the movies. As the disease progressed and he was unable to leave the house, I took him to doctor appointments, managed his medications, provided personal care, arranged for friend's visits and cooked his daily meals. As his family lived out of state and he had no one but caregivers to tend to his needs, I also took care of the household needs (ie. Small repairs, maintenance of the property and scheduling and overseeing subcontractors) and cared for the family dog.
