About Hilary

Hi I'm Hilary! I have been teaching middle school ELA with a focus on writing development for the past 10 years. I am certified to teach ELA grades 4-10, but also have experience helping younger students as well. In general I am great with helping students initiate tasks, sustain focus and stay motivated. Writing skill specific: I can help with a large variety of skills from idea generation, structure, elaboration, to grammar. My genres of expertise are narrative (personal narrative and fantasy), informational, literary analysis, creative writing, and comparative essay writing. Reading skills: I can help with fluency, comprehension and develop a love of reading. I'm also trained in social emotional learning skills as well as executive functioning skill building.
