About Janet

Hello! I am a 23-year-old female looking for a part time position to care for children. I graduated from Auburn University in 2011 with a BA in Biomedical Sciences and have been recently accepted to pursue a career in dentistry at UAB School of Dentistry starting this fall. As the oldest of three, I have naturally grown up to look after my younger brother and sister. My earliest experience in babysitting was when I was in middle school and completed a babysitting course through the YMCA. Other experiences I continue to have with children is tutoring, which I started in high school. This part time job emphasized not only my knowledge academically, but demonstrated the importance of being a role model to these children and learning to communicate between the child and parent's needs. I have also been involved in my local church by entertaining children with arts and crafts. Among the various volunteer activities I had in college was training a group of elementary school children in a subject to prepare in the Science Olympiad. I have been involved with this for two years, and one of my proudest moments was when my group placed first in the Calculator Contest. More recently, I have worked at the front desk at Auburn Pediatric Dentistry, where I was able to interact with children of all ages. I understand the importance of respecting the parents needs and wants for the children as well as keeping the children's attention to focus. I always like to keep things fun and entertaining and love to run around with the kids. If my friends had to describe me, they would say that I am a positive, enthusiastic person with a serious weakness for sugary foods.
