For 9 months, I lived within a Japanese animal shelter as a full-time caregiver. On many days, I alone cared for the nearly 50 animals in their establishment. During this time, my duties included socializing animals, administering medications, taking sick animals to the vet, cleaning the entire building and taking dogs for walks. During my time there I helped with cats, dogs, chickens, cows and even a few birds. I also have lots of experience with animals that have special needs (FIV, FELV, PTS, diabetes, Social Anxiety, etc.) and am trained to give animals various medications (shots, IV drips and pills). Most recently I worked as an Animal Control Officer, where I handled and assessed both domestic and wild animals, socialized dogs and cats, fostered kittens and frequently helped care techs clean the shelter.
