About Jess

As an avid, lifelong reader, writer, and forever-student, I've discovered over the past five years a love for teaching fellow learners. Upon graduating with my Bachelor's in English Literature, I traveled abroad and earned my Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate. I returned home and began my Master's in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. I earned my tuition through a Teaching Assistantship. I taught Introduction to Research Writing and Composition 101 to Freshman and Sophomore students at my alma mater, Pittsburg State University. Once I graduated, I worked as a substitute teacher for two years across elementary and secondary grades, but stayed primarily in elementary classrooms. Over the past five years, I've worked as a private tutor. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing and Publishing at DePaul University.
