About Joseph

I am currently retired and living in Richmond. The first half of my career was spent as an Army Officer and during one of my assignments I taught Calculus for three years at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, NY. During the second half of my career I did a variety of systems engineering, analysis, and security jobs in support of the Intelligence Community in and around Northern Virginia. I've always enjoyed using mathematics to solve problems. I've found through teaching and working that everyone is capable of mastering mathematical principles if they understand the basics and master the tools required to solve problems and that most obstacles to gaining that mastery come from the lack of a basic understanding. I enjoy helping students understand their weaknesses and encouraging them to develop their own personal relationship with mathematics and its uses. I have a BS in Civil Engineering from USMA and a ME in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.
