About Julia

Hi! My name is Julia and I am originally from Brazil. I have home schooled my 2 daughters for 9 years and educated them in math, English, science, and history. I taught them both how to read and write successfully above their grade levels. I am passionate about education and meeting each student where they are at. I am a firm believer that every child has the potential to become a successful reader as long as careful consideration is given to how uniquely they learn! My approach to teaching reading is based on the science of reading methodology, in which understanding the whys behind reading words in a certain way takes precedence to mere memorization. I have also had experience working as a Special Education Instructional Assistant for 3 years and had the privilege of helping students with a variety of disabilities thrive academically and emotionally. I have a background in Law education, acquired in my country of origin, Brazil. I would love to be a help to you and your family!
