About Kathleen

I'd describe my personality as caring, patient and passionate! I like tutoring because I enjoy helping others feel successful in their reading skills. I'm looking for a job that will allow me to share my expertise in literacy instruction. I hope to draw in clients who are committed to helping their children become better readers. I started tutoring when I was in college and continued tutoring through my years as a full-time classroom teacher. I have been a Tutor for 30 years. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy biking, walking and swimming. One thing you should know about me is I work hard at what I do, and I treat every child as if they are my own. My skills include teaching reading and writing, and all literacy skills that are involved. I have strengths with specific phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. I also focus on fluency and decoding strategies to help readers build their comprehension of text.
