I have been surrounded by cats my entire life. Starting when I was young, my grandmother, who lived next door to us, had two cats we saw almost daily. When I was 5 we rescued our own, Drago, and raised him as member of our family, to the extent my parents called him our "brother", which we never protested once. We loved and cared for him until his final day at age 18. Then I short term adopted my sister's cat, Audrey, two separate times when she lived in non-pet friendly buildings. In between those two short term periods, I began the process of adopting our next cat Elvira, Elvie for short. I didn't want Elvie to be lonely so over the following two years, so I adopted two more furbabies, Jamie Rose and Josie. When interacting with your furbaby at first. I give them space and time to feel comfortable to approach me. I then begin paying attention to their mood. If they're scared or cautious, I give them the time and space needed to warm up to me.
