About Melissa

Hello! My name is Melissa and I am a recent graduate from UC Santa Cruz. I studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology because I am passionate about science. My coursework as an undergrad and my professional experiences have taught me many valuable skills such as communication, teamwork, and patience. I was on a competitive dance team in high school, which required me to assist the dance teachers with the younger kids, ages 3-5. This was such a wonderful experience getting to teach young children about something I was so passionate about. At this time I was also babysitting for two families, for about 3 years. The children I watched were aged 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years old. Watching those children grow, and being a person they felt safe around was one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced. I spent this last summer working at a summer camp. This experience reminded me how much I enjoy caring for kids. I think we have so much to learn about life and love from them.
