Hi, I'm Michael! I am a 30-year-old special ed teacher living in Rocky Hill. I have been working in special ed for 9 years, specializing in adolescents (age 11-21) with challenging behaviors. I was a founding member of The Mill School in VT, a cutting edge school for this population. I currently teach math and science at Venture Academy in Meriden, to the same population. The challenges I support most often relate to: trauma, personality disorders, ASD, ADHD, ODD, depression, and anxiety. I am PMT trained to safely manage violent outbursts. For fun I like to play guitar, read, play Magic, rock climb, ski, and do yoga. I am available for mentorship, tutoring, or babysitting. If your young person is struggling with ups and downs and in need of guidance or support, reach out! I'm happy to meet free of charge to make sure we're a good fit. For tutoring, I am a certified special education teacher, which is a certified in: math, science, English and social studies at high school level.

Michael tutored our daughter through her freshman year of high school. He gave her excellent homework help, quiz and test prep, previewed projects and helped her study for mid-terms and finals. His thorough understanding of the IEP process in CT helped us make sure teachers and special ed staff were compliant throughout the year. He helped us prepare for her evaluation meeting and the PPT that followed. With his help, we had the best requests for goals we've had yet, based in her previous IEP and the progress she had made this year. More than anything though, he developed a great relationship with her. He helped her to understand her learning disability better, to find what worked for her to achieve success, and to have a sense of humor about the journey. He has been amazing. We highly recommend him.
