About Misty

For the past several years, I have cared for my 87-year-old grandmother who lives on her own. I have assisted her with shopping, any errands or household chores that she is unable to complete, transporting her to doctor's appointments and cared for her during a two week hospital stay and six week recovery in an assisted living. I am dedicated to helping her have the highest quality of life possible, and determined to help her live life to the fullest without fear within the limits of what her health will allow. As an advocate for her in many public and private settings, I have found that she is easily misunderstood by others, most importantly, doctors, and she has a hard time understanding them. I feel that senior adults are such a precious and vital part of our society. So often their knowledge and wisdom is pushed by the wayside or ignored. It seems their voices have become forgotten in a time when they are needed the most. I so enjoy listening to my grandmothers stories and point of view of how things are now, and how they used to be. I feel that it is imperative our senior adults receive the respect, dignity, and compassion one would show an individual of any other age.
