About Mya

My legal name is Mya, but I go by RJ and my pronouns are they/them. I am a patient and passionate caregiver. I've worked at after school programs as well as nannying and I've also taught preschool with various ages. I know this is both what I am good at and what I enjoy. Young children are especially curious and working with children means engaging in the learning process. I model empathy and courage. I boost their confidence by expanding upon their knowledge and providing guidance and encouragement as they test their capabilities. For children there is always ample room for exploration as there's never a dull moment. There is value in being in the moment and remembering that the journey is the reward. I provide routine and structure as well as a sense of fun and wonder, helping children understand the consequences of their actions to an age appropriate level. It's important to be silly, have fun, then to appreciate the value of cleaning up.
