When I attended high school, I volunteered at the local elementary school for children ages 6 to 11. I assisted the children with their homework and art projects and took them sledding or apple picking. I also volunteered at the YMCA to assist with swim lessons for children ages 3 to 5. In college, I worked part time at a child care center in Orono, Maine. I provided snacks, set up art projects, read to the children before nap time, and played during recess.
