I have experience in assisted living, and in lockdown memory care units. Assisted living is typically those who need help with some daily needs such as showering, meal prep, cleaning their apartment, laundry.. etc. In memory care I was responsible for all of those things, plus transferring patients, brushing teeth, meal reminders, monitoring and reporting changes in mood, diet, bruises, sores and bowel movements. The main responsibility was occupying the patients so that they would not become restless and possibly cause harm to themselves. For example some patients who suffer from dementia/Alzheimer may attempt to ambulate themselves, when they are wheelchair bound because they forget they are immobile and in the event of that happening they end up falling. I'm passionate about what I do because I've experienced end of life care. I took care of my grandmother while she was passing of liver cancer, and I know how important it is to have someone to help and care for you.
