About Sabrina

In 2013, my church sponsored a Special Olympics event for special needs groups in the Houston area. When I attended, I had never worked with special needs kids before, so I came with an open mind. As I started working with the kids, I felt an instant connection with everyone I met. After the Olympics, I received an opportunity to volunteer with a non profit organization named Camp Journey. This organization served 40 individuals ranging in age from 8 to 18, primarily with Autism and some with Down-syndrome. As the years went on, I grew a special bond with each and every one of these children, this rewarding experience created a passion for working with them. I have also come to realize these individuals are much more capable than one would think and helping them be understood in the community has been rewarding and I want continue this work to bring to light how much these individuals can contribute to society.
