Hello! My name is Shelley, and I currently work as a biologist at the University of Minnesota. I study the ecology and evolution of plants, and really love to share a sense of curiosity with the kids that I work with. Before starting my the last phase of my journey as a biologist, I worked as a nanny for two families over two years. One family had a 4 and 8-year-old, and the other family had 5 kids ages 1. 5 - 10. My philosophy about babysitting is to provide a safe environment that can foster creativity and exploration, using the child's interests as the main guiding force for activities. With that being said, I love to be outside and encourage play time outdoors. I work towards fostering a safe emotional environment by setting boundaries, listening and empathizing with everyone's needs. I am happy to help with other tasks around the house - be it cooking, laundry and/or light housekeeping. I have a car that can accommodate car seats.
