I work with a nonverbal autistic gentleman for 9yrs that lived in my home! I was also employed as a job coach for the mentally and physically challenged I started my caregiving career with my grandmother who raised me, I promised her I would never put her in a nursing home! When she started getting worse with dementia I sold my restaurant and provided 24/7 care for 3 yrs and it was hard, went through all 7 stages of dementia w/ her so I know what it takes! You need whole lot of patience and kindness and a sense of humor goes a long way! I have cert in CPR , Advanced first aid, Lifting and mobility assistance, infection control standards, Certified caregiver, Dementia training for care giver, Elder abuse and neglect training, HIPPA and Confidentiality, TB tested and also a trained chef and cert. w/ healthy foods for seniors!
