About Tommylia

Hi! My name is Tommyia, but I often go by Tommy. I'm currently a college student at the U of I majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Social Work. I enjoy working with children because I thrive to be what my mentors were for me throughout my life: a light! I'm a very enthusiastic and determined individual that'll bring light and joy to any kids day! I have 4-5 years of paid childcare experience under my belt along with the courses I've taken at my university that have prepared me to understand children and teenagers on many different levels including but not limited to academics, physical, mental, and even emotional. I've occupied roles as Teacher Aid, Camp Lead, as well as a mentor and even positions at after-school programs and daycares. I've had my fair share of working with children at every age thus giving me the skills to connect and foster genuine bonds with our youth.
