I love to take kids to the park, tell them stories, read to them, and play music, sing, and dance together. I use stories and play to teach kids about responsibility and helping others. I'm also happy to help with housework, meal prep/cooking, and laundry, in addition to childcare. I am a U. S. citizen and speak fluent English and Spanish, as well as some Italian. I have worked as a nanny for multiple families, including one with 6 children, and cared for all age ranges - newborns to teenagers. I've also previously worked as a cultural interpreter at the Smithsonian American Indian Museum, giving children's workshops, guiding groups of children, giving presentations, and answering questions. Juanita is sweet, honest, hard working, energetic, bright, strong, creative, good cook, clean, courteous, and a reverent Christian. She s good with children. She was my guide to Guatemalan indigenous culture [when I was a photographer] and is proud of her Mayan essence. We traveled together. I met her family. We received honors for the work we did to promote an appreciation of Mayan culture. Her English is very good, as is her Spanish and no doubt a few indigenous languages. If the world was different she would be regarded as a national treasure as a weaver. We first met at the National Museum of the American Indian where she did tours and weaving demonstrations. She has personal resources that people of the Third World have. I can t say enough good things about Juanita. She s a gem.
